ID Photo L-Size Print Maker | Make Résumé, My Number Card & Passport Photos Yourself and Print Them at a Convenience Store
ID Photo L-Size Print Maker crops a photo taken on your phone to the size you need: résumé and exam admission ticket (4 cm tall × 3 cm wide), driver’s license (3 × 2.4 cm), passport and My Number Card (4.5 × 3.5 cm), US visa (2 × 2 inches), Chinese visa (4.8 × 3.3 cm) or any custom size. It then tiles the photos onto L-size, 2L-size, postcard, KG or A4 paper and saves the sheet as a JPEG. Guide bands show where the top of the head and the tip of the chin should fall, so it is easy to meet standards such as the passport’s “face height of 34 mm ±2 mm”. You can also fix tilt, brightness, contrast and color tone. It also supports mixing two types (for example a résumé photo and a My Number photo) on one sheet, adding cut lines and a ruler scale for checking the actual print size, and exporting a single photo for online applications. Photos are processed only inside your browser and are never sent to a server.
1. Choose the photo size
Choose the size required by where you submit it. The face-size guide switches to match that standard.
GuidelineMost résumé photo spaces (JIS sample format) are this size. There is no rule for face size; a size that leaves a little space above the head and includes down to the upper chest is a good guide. Guide: top of head 3–6 mm from the top edge, top of head to chin 24–28 mm
2. Load a photo and align the face with the guide
Photos are processed only inside this device’s browser and are never sent to a server. You can choose a photo taken on your phone as is.
30×40 mm frame
Once you choose a photo, you can adjust its position, size, tilt and brightness here. To just try it, press “Try with a sample person”.
3. Lay out on paper and save
Print the image laid out on L-size (89 × 127 mm) as “L-size” at a convenience store print machine or photo print service, and you get ID photos at their actual size.

ABOUT
About ID Photo L-Size Print Maker | Make Résumé, My Number Card & Passport Photos Yourself and Print Them at a Convenience Store
ID Photo L-Size Print Maker is a tool that crops a photo taken on your phone to ID photo size and produces a JPEG with copies tiled onto photo paper such as L-size (89 × 127 mm). Print the saved image as “L-size” at a convenience store photo print service and you get ID photos at their actual size. An L-size sheet holds 4 résumé or exam admission ticket photos (4 cm tall × 3 cm wide; 6 if you tighten the margins), 4 passport or My Number Card photos (4.5 × 3.5 cm), or 9 driver’s license photos (3 × 2.4 cm). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs passport standard is 34 mm ±2 mm from the top of the head to the chin and 4 mm ±2 mm from the top of the head to the top edge, so the editor shows bands for the top of the head (green) and the tip of the chin (pink). Just move the photo to line up with the bands and it fits the standard size.
How to use ID Photo L-Size Print Maker | Make Résumé, My Number Card & Passport Photos Yourself and Print Them at a Convenience Store
- 1In “1. Choose the photo size”, pick the size required by where you will submit it: résumé (4 cm tall × 3 cm wide), driver’s license, passport, My Number Card, US visa and so on
- 2Load a photo from your phone with “Choose a photo” (to just try it out, use “Try with a sample person”)
- 3Drag the photo to move it, and zoom in or out with “Face size” so the top of the head fits in the green band and the tip of the chin in the pink band. Fix tilt, brightness and color tone if needed
- 4Choose the paper (L-size, 2L-size, postcard, KG, A4) and the layout, then decide the number of photos and a second type of photo (for example résumé + My Number)
- 5Save the image with “Save the whole sheet as JPEG”, then print it at a convenience store photo print service with “L-size”, “with border” and “no correction”
- 6Check that the scale in the bottom margin measures 5 cm with a ruler, then cut along the gray cut lines
Great for
- You want to make plenty of photos for résumés and job application forms for job hunting or a career change, more cheaply than a photo booth (800–1,000 yen)
- You want to take photos for My Number Card or passport applications on your phone and match them to the required size
- You want to print ID photos of different sizes, such as one for a résumé and one for My Number, together on a single L-size sheet
- You need photos of a specified size for a qualification exam admission ticket, a driver’s license renewal or an employee ID
- You want to make overseas application photos, such as for a US visa (2 × 2 inches) or a Chinese visa, with the face at the required size
- You want to export just one ID photo JPEG with a fixed aspect ratio for an online application
Good to know
- Loading, cropping and saving photos all happen inside your device’s browser. Your photos are never sent to a server.
- There is no feature to remove the background or repaint its color. Use a photo taken in front of a plain white, light blue or light gray wall.
- Face position is not detected automatically. The guide bands follow the official standard (passport, US visa, Chinese visa) or are a rule of thumb for how to shoot (résumé, driver’s license, My Number).
- When printing borderless, the photo is slightly enlarged to fill the paper, so photos may come out 1–3% larger. If possible, print “with border” and check the actual size with the scale.
- The exported image is 300 dpi by default (1051 × 1500 px for L-size). For home printers you can also choose 600 dpi.
- Depending on where you submit it, there are rules such as taken within the last 6 months, no hat, facing forward and no glare on glasses. Always check the latest requirements of the recipient.

FAQ
- How many ID photos fit on an L-size sheet?
- With a 4 mm outer margin and 3 mm between photos, an L-size sheet (89 × 127 mm) holds 4 résumé photos (4 cm tall × 3 cm wide), 4 passport or My Number photos (4.5 × 3.5 cm), 9 driver’s license photos (3 × 2.4 cm) or 2 US visa photos (5.1 cm square). If you tighten the margin to 1.5 mm and the gap to 2 mm, you can fit 6 photos of 4 cm tall × 3 cm wide with the paper in landscape orientation. On 2L-size paper (127 × 178 mm), 12–15 photos of 4 cm tall × 3 cm wide fit.
- How much does it cost to print ID photos at a convenience store?
- A photo print (L-size) on a convenience store multifunction copier costs a few dozen yen per sheet, so if you put 4–6 résumé-size photos on one L-size sheet, it comes to around 10 yen per photo. That is cheaper than a photo booth at a station (around 800–1,000 yen), and you can retake photos freely. Prices vary by store and time, so check the notice in the store.
- What is the face size for a passport photo?
- Under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs standard, the photo is 45 mm tall × 35 mm wide, the distance from the top of the head (including hair) to the tip of the chin is 34 mm ±2 mm (32–36 mm), and the space from the top of the head to the top edge of the photo is 4 mm ±2 mm. An application may be rejected if the face is too large or too small, so this tool sets the size by matching the green band (top of the head) and the pink band (tip of the chin).
- Can I use a photo I took myself for my My Number Card?
- Yes. A photo taken on your phone and printed can be used as long as it is 4.5 cm tall × 3.5 cm wide, facing forward, without a hat or background, and taken within the last 6 months. For a postal application you attach it to the application form, and for an online application you send the photo data (JPEG). For online applications, “Save a single photo only” exports a JPEG with a 4.5:3.5 aspect ratio.
- What size is a résumé photo?
- The photo space on commercially sold résumés (such as the JIS sample format) is 36–40 mm tall × 24–30 mm wide, and you normally attach a photo of 4 cm tall × 3 cm wide. There is no rule for face size, but a size that leaves a little space above the head and includes down to the upper chest (about 25 mm from the top of the head to the chin) is easy to read.
- Why does the size of the printed photo come out off?
- “Borderless” printing slightly enlarges the image and cuts off the edges to fill the paper, so photos can come out 1–3% larger. Also, if the print machine’s “auto correction” or “trimming” is on, the size and brightness change. Print “with border” and “no correction”; if the scale in the margin measures 5 cm with a ruler, the print is at its actual size.
- Can I use HEIC photos from an iPhone?
- Safari can load HEIC photos as they are. If they won’t open in Chrome or another browser, shoot in JPEG with iPhone “Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible”, or re-save them as JPEG from the Photos app’s share menu.
