FAQ
- Can I convert kanji directly to Braille?
- Yes. The tool first estimates a kana reading and then converts it to Japanese Braille. Names and place names can be read incorrectly, so check and edit the kana field before copying the result.
- Why does Japanese Braille write は as わ?
- Japanese Braille is written according to pronunciation. The particle は is pronounced wa and is written わ; the particle へ is written え. Some long vowels are also represented with a long-vowel sign.
- Why is the output reversed for a Braille slate?
- A slate embosses paper from the back. The mirrored view reverses the dots in each cell and lays the line out from right to left; turn the paper over to read it from the front.
- Can the tool read Braille back into kanji?
- It decodes six-dot Japanese Braille into kana. It does not restore kanji because the Braille spelling represents pronunciation rather than the original characters.
- Does Unicode Braille work for tactile reading?
- Unicode Braille displays the dot pattern on screen, but it is not tactile. Use a Braille embosser or slate to create a version that can be read by touch.
