Riichi Mahjong Fu & Score Calculator | Tap Your Hand for an Automatic Fu Breakdown, Yaku and Score (with Score Table)
A tool that calculates riichi mahjong fu and score automatically from your hand. Tap tiles to enter the concealed tiles and winning tile, plus any chii, pon, open kan and closed kan, then choose ron or tsumo, round and seat wind, riichi and dora. It reads the split into 4 melds and a pair and the wait (ryanmen, kanchan, penchan, tanki, shanpon), lists the base fu, concealed ron fu, tsumo fu, triplet and kan fu, and yakuhai pair fu line by line, totals them, and shows the rounded-up fu, han and score. When a hand can be split in several ways, it picks the highest-scoring reading (takaten-hou). It detects yaku from pinfu, tanyao, iipeikou, sanshoku, ittsuu, chiitoitsu, toitoi, sanankou, honitsu and chinitsu to yakuman such as suuankou tanki, 13-sided kokushi musou and junsei chuuren poutou. Includes rule settings for kiriage mangan, kuitan, kazoe yakuman and double-wind pair fu, a calculator that gives the score from fu and han, non-dealer and dealer ron/tsumo score tables, and a fu reference table.

ABOUT
About Riichi Mahjong Fu & Score Calculator | Tap Your Hand for an Automatic Fu Breakdown, Yaku and Score (with Score Table)
The Mahjong Fu & Score Calculator automatically works out the fu breakdown, yaku, han and score just from tapping your hand in with the tile buttons. Enter the concealed tiles, the winning tile, and any chii, pon, open kan and closed kan, then choose ron or tsumo, round wind and seat wind (East seat is the dealer), riichi, ippatsu, dora indicators, aka dora, honba and kyotaku, and it splits the hand into 4 melds and a pair and reads which meld the winning tile completed (ryanmen, kanchan, penchan, tanki or shanpon). The fu are listed line by line as “base fu 20”, “concealed ron 10”, “tsumo 2”, “open/concealed triplet and open/closed kan (simple or terminal/honor tile)”, “yakuhai pair” and “kanchan/penchan/tanki 2”, then totaled and rounded up to the next 10. It also reflects the rules that are easy to get wrong: pinfu tsumo is 20 fu, chiitoitsu is 25 fu (not rounded up), an open hand that would have no fu is 30 fu, and a triplet completed by ron on a shanpon wait counts as open (not concealed). When the same hand can be split or read in several ways, every option is tried and the highest-scoring reading (takaten-hou) is shown. Yaku detected include riichi, pinfu, tanyao, iipeikou, yakuhai, sanshoku doujun, ittsuu, chanta, chiitoitsu, toitoi, sanankou, shousangen, honroutou, ryanpeikou, junchan, honitsu and chinitsu, plus the yakuman suuankou (tanki), kokushi musou (13-sided), daisangen, tsuuiisou, shousuushii, daisuushii, ryuuiisou, chinroutou, suukantsu, chuuren poutou (junsei), tenhou and chiihou. Kiriage mangan, kuitan, kazoe yakuman, double yakuman and fu for a double-wind pair can be switched to match your rules. There is also a calculator that gives the score from fu and han alone, score tables for non-dealer and dealer ron and tsumo, and a reference table of fu and yaku.

Good to know
- Scores are calculated with the general riichi mahjong rules (20 base fu, 10 fu for a concealed ron, 2 fu for tsumo, rounding the ones digit up). Some house rules may give different scores.
- A pinfu tsumo gets no 2 fu for tsumo and is 20 fu. A pinfu ron gets the 10 fu concealed-ron bonus and is 30 fu.
- Chiitoitsu is fixed at 25 fu and is not rounded up. If a chiitoitsu shape can also be read as ryanpeikou, the higher-scoring one is used.
- If an open hand would stay at 20 fu (the open pinfu shape), it is counted as 30 fu even on ron.
- When you win on a shanpon wait by ron, the completed triplet is counted as open. On tsumo it is concealed. The same applies to the sanankou and suuankou checks.
- A double-wind pair (such as East for the East-round dealer) is worth 2 or 4 fu depending on the rules. The default is 2 fu, and you can change it to 4 fu in “Rule settings”.
- Fu are not counted for yakuman. You can also switch to a rule where double yakuman (suuankou tanki, 13-sided kokushi musou, junsei chuuren poutou, daisuushii) count as a single yakuman.
- Dora are not yaku, so a hand with only dora and no yaku cannot win. An open hand needs a yaku such as yakuhai, tanyao (with kuitan) or toitoi.
- Each honba adds 300 points on ron, or 100 points from each player on tsumo. Riichi sticks on the table (kyotaku) are counted as 1000 points each and added to the winner’s income.
- Your hand is calculated entirely inside the browser and is never sent to a server.

FAQ
- Where do I start when counting fu?
- Start with 20 base fu, then add 10 for a concealed ron or 2 for tsumo (except pinfu tsumo). Next add triplet and kan fu (open triplet 2, concealed triplet 4, open kan 8, closed kan 16, doubled for terminal/honor tiles), 2 for a yakuhai pair, and 2 for a kanchan, penchan or tanki wait, and finally round the ones digit up. Sequences and ryanmen or shanpon waits are 0 fu.
- Why is pinfu tsumo 20 fu?
- Pinfu is the yaku for a hand with no fu, so it is defined not to get the 2 fu for tsumo either. Only the 20 base fu remain, which makes 20 fu. A pinfu ron gets the 10 fu concealed-ron bonus and is 30 fu.
- How many fu is chiitoitsu?
- It is fixed at 25 fu. Unlike other hands, the ones digit is not rounded up. Chiitoitsu is 2 han, so a non-dealer ron at 25 fu 2 han is 1600 points, and with riichi, 25 fu 3 han is 3200 points.
- If I win by ron on a shanpon wait, is the triplet concealed or open?
- A triplet completed by ron counts as open (2 fu for a simple tile, 4 fu for a terminal/honor), and it doesn’t count toward sanankou or suuankou. If you win on the same shape by tsumo, it is concealed. A suuankou won on a tanki wait (suuankou tanki) stays concealed even on ron.
- Is 30 fu 4 han 7700 or 8000 points?
- By strict calculation it is 7700 for a non-dealer ron (11600 for the dealer), but under the “kiriage mangan” rule it is rounded up to a mangan, 8000 (12000 for the dealer). 60 fu 3 han works the same way. It depends on your table’s rules, so this tool lets you switch.
- How many fu is an open hand with no fu?
- An open hand that would be only the 20 base fu (the open pinfu shape) is counted as 30 fu even on ron. On tsumo, 20 fu plus 2 fu for tsumo rounds up to 30 fu as well.
- What happens when a hand can be split in several ways?
- For example, depending on whether you were waiting on “234” or “456”, a hand can be read as a ryanmen wait or a kanchan wait. In mahjong you use the reading with the highest score (takaten-hou), so this tool tries every split and every wait reading and shows the highest score.
- How do I pay a tsumo score like “1000-2000”?
- When a non-dealer wins by tsumo, the other non-dealers pay the smaller amount (1000) and the dealer pays the larger amount (2000). When the dealer wins by tsumo, all three non-dealers pay the same amount, which is announced as “2000 all”.
- Is a double-wind pair worth 2 fu or 4 fu?
- A pair of a tile that is both the round wind and your seat wind (such as East for the East-round dealer, or South for the South seat in the South round) is called a double-wind pair, and some rules count it as 2 fu and others as 4 fu. The total can change after rounding up, so switch it in the rule settings and check.
