Darts Checkout Chart | Find How to Check Out From Any Score — Open Out, Double Out and Master Out, Fat Bull or Split Bull — Plus a 01 Practice Scorer With Bust Detection and a Stats, PPD and Count-Up to Rating Converter
The Darts Checkout Chart is a free tool for finding how to finish a 01 game from the score you have left. Switch between open out (the default on most soft-tip machines), double out (the official steel-tip rule) and master out (finish on a double, treble or bull), and between a fat bull (the whole bull scores 50) and a split bull (outer 25, inner 50). Enter the remaining score and the darts left in the round, and it lists every 1- to 3-dart checkout, fewest darts first and easiest targets first, and lights up the 1st, 2nd and 3rd targets on a dartboard. When you cannot finish, it suggests a set-up dart that leaves an easy finish for the next round. The checkout chart tab lists every score from 2 to 180 and the bogey numbers you cannot finish in three darts, such as 169 and 168. The 01 practice tab lets you score 301, 501, 701 or 901 by tapping where each dart landed, with bust detection, the checkout for your current score and live PPD and PPR. The stats tab converts between 01 stats, PPD and count-up scores and combines them with your cricket MPR into a rating estimate.

Great for
- Quickly look up what to aim for at the end of a 01 game at a darts bar
- Compare how checkouts change between soft-tip open out and steel-tip or tournament double out
- Relearn checkouts before a split-bull tournament, where the outer bull is only worth 25
- Keep score while practising 501 on a home dartboard and record your PPD
- Copy the checkout chart into a notes app and practise avoiding bogey numbers such as 169, 168 and 166
- Estimate where your 01 stats and rating stand from your average count-up score
- Check how much your 01 stats or MPR need to improve to reach the next rating
Good to know
- Checkouts are ordered by the fewest darts first, then by the easiest targets. The rough order of ease used is: singles and fat bull > trebles > doubles > the inner bull with a split bull.
- With open out, you finish whenever you hit exactly 0, wherever the dart lands. Most soft-tip 01 games in Japan use this setting, and checkouts that finish on the bull (50 with a fat bull) are popular.
- Double out requires the last dart to be a double or the bull (the inner bull counts as double 25). It is the official steel-tip rule. Leaving 1 point, or reaching 0 with anything other than a double, is a bust.
- For the final double in double out, the tool prefers D16 (32), D20 (40) and D8 (16), because a miss into the neighbouring single still leaves an even number that can be halved.
- Master out lets you finish with a double, treble or bull. Because trebles also finish, more scores can be checked out than with double out.
- With a fat bull, both the inner and outer bull score 50. In this tool the bull also finishes a double-out game when the fat bull is selected. Machines, venues and tournaments differ, so check the setting before you play.
- With double out and a split bull, the highest three-dart checkout is 170 (T20, T20, BULL), and 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159 cannot be finished in three darts (the bogey numbers).
- When practising 01, a bust cancels every point scored in that round and returns you to the score you started the round with (the same rule in soft-tip and steel-tip). PPD is the average points per dart and includes the darts thrown in bust rounds.
- The rating is an estimate: 01 stats of 40 = Rt2 with +1 for every 5 points, and a cricket MPR of 1.30 = Rt2 with +1 for every 0.20. Real ratings depend on how each machine calculates them (number of recent games, 80% stats and so on).
- Your practice log and settings are stored only in this browser and never sent to a server.

FAQ
- What is a checkout (arrange) in darts?
- It is the combination of targets you aim at to bring your remaining score to exactly 0 and win a 01 game. For example, with open out and a fat bull, 70 left is “S20 → BULL”, and with double out, 100 left is “T20 → D20”. Enter your remaining score and this tool lists checkouts with the fewest darts and easiest targets first.
- How do checkouts differ between open out and double out?
- With open out you can finish anywhere, so easy checkouts that end on a single or the fat bull are available. With double out the last dart must be a double or the bull, so checkouts leave a double such as D16 or D20 for the end. Switch the rule above to see the difference for the same score right away.
- Are there scores you cannot check out in three darts?
- With double out, anything above 170, plus 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159, cannot be finished in three darts. With open out and master out, 163, 166, 169, 172, 173, 175, 176, 178 and 179 cannot be finished in three darts. For these scores the tool suggests a set-up dart that leaves an easy finish for the next round.
- Do checkouts change with a split bull?
- Yes. With a split bull, the outer bull scores 25 and the inner bull 50, and the inner bull is a very small target. So 100, which is “BULL → BULL” with a fat bull, is shown as “T20 → D20” first with a split bull and double out.
- What is a bust?
- In 01, a bust happens when you score more than you have left (and, with double out or master out, when you leave 1 or reach 0 without the required target). All points scored in that round are cancelled and you go back to the score you had at the start of the round. The “Practise 01” tab detects busts automatically.
- What is the difference between PPD, PPR and stats?
- PPD is the average points per dart and PPR is the average points per round (three darts), so PPR is three times PPD. Depending on the machine, 01 stats are shown either as PPD or per round (PPR). A count-up game is the total of 8 rounds and 24 darts, so dividing your average by 8 gives roughly your PPR and dividing by 24 gives roughly your PPD.
- Is the rating calculation exact?
- It is an estimate based on a widely used chart (01: 40 points = Rt2, +1 per 5 points; cricket: MPR 1.30 = Rt2, +1 per 0.20). Machines differ in how many games they count and how they calculate 01 stats, so the value on your card may differ slightly.
